And that's a wrap for Term 2.....

11th Apr 2025

Time flies when you are having fun and we certainly have been having lots of fun this term! It was a cold start in January and we explored the Artic and Antarctic and the animals that live in these snowy habitats. 1st Class completed excellent group projects on some of the different animals such as orcas, polar bears and seals and they presented them to 5th Class. We celebrated Saint Brigid and the whole class made a beautiful mosaic cloak.

We got fit and healthy in February and took part in boxing, hip hop, football and boogie bounce as well as investigating foods that keep our bodies healthy. In art we have made beautiful daffodils and chicks to brighten up our Spring wall display as well as enjoying some outdoor Spring scavenger hunts and for Seachtain na Gaeilge we thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the school ceolchoirm by performing ‘An Haka Gaelach’.

The tooth fairy has been very busy with all the wobbly teeth we have been having this term!

In March and April we have been getting our ‘greenfingers’ by planting seeds for a variety of vegetables that we nurtured in our classroom and have now transferred to the school garden and hope to taste in the coming months including lettuce, carrots, turnips, beetroot and peas. We grew oyster mushrooms which we chopped up mixed with butter and garlic and ate on sourdough toast and also made some homemade ‘Fir Sinséir’, delicious!

Of course, apart from all the fun there has been some serious learning too and we are so impressed with the hard work all the girls and boys have been doing, especially in reading and thank-you to all the helpers at home who have been assisting with homework to help along the way.
